The Schrödinger Equation

Quick fact

Erwin Schrödinger formulated his equation in 1926, and it later earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1933. The equation itself is a wave equation but with complex numbers, giving rise to the strange yet accurate predictions of quantum mechanics.

Why this is interesting

We normally think of particles as tiny billiard balls with definite positions, but what if they behaved more like ripples spreading across a pond? How can we predict where an electron will be at any moment?
