Understanding Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
GDP is like a scorecard for an economy. It shows how much value is created within a country’s borders each year by adding up all the goods and services produced. Think of it as the total 'value made' by everyone working in that country, from factories to businesses and even government services.
A deeper explanation
GDP measures the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period. It is calculated using methods like the expenditure approach (C + I + G + (X - M)), where C is consumption, I is investment, G is government spending, X is exports, and M is imports. GDP gives insight into economic health, helping governments and investors make informed decisions about growth, employment, and policy.
