The Logic of Question-Asking and Erotetic Logic
Quick fact
Erotetic logic, from the Greek 'erotema' (question), treats questions as formal objects with logical properties. One of its central ideas is that a question is only legitimate if its presupposition is true—for instance, 'What is the capital of France?' presupposes that France has a capital, making it a well-formed question, while 'What is the color of the invisible unicorn?' presupposes a nonexistent entity.
Why this is interesting
You ask questions all day, but did you know that questions themselves have a logic? Just as statements can be valid or invalid, questions can be well-posed or flawed—and there's a whole field of logic dedicated to them.
