Anthropologists have shown that, biologically, there is only one race: the human race. Genetic variation within any so-called racial group can be as great as variation between groups, and many physical traits used to define 'races' (like skin color or nose width) do not correlate reliably with each other.
Why this is interesting
You might think of race as a biological fact, but anthropologists say it's a social invention. Why is it that a person considered 'Black' in the United States can be considered 'White' in Brazil or 'Coloured' in South Africa?
